Gluten-Free Fish And Chips

Gluten-Free Beer Batter or
Mock Beer Batter Fish And Chips
All- purpose gluten-free flour (good quality) | approx. 2 cups

(1 cup of flour for batter mix and 1 cup for dredging)
Kosher salt | ¼ tsp.
Black pepper| ¼ tsp.
YOUR CHOICE- Gluten-Free beer (like O Mission) or club soda (we use club soda)
- 1 large onion-sliced as shown into½ inch rings
- (4) 4 oz. pieces of wild caught cod
- Peanut oil or avocado oil (enough to cover frying items/depends on size of your fryer)
- deep fryer or air fryer
Take 1 cup of flour and place in bowl or container big enough to allow for use in coating the onions and fish.
Place remaining cup of flour in a bowl. Into the flour you will mix in approximately 8 or 9 oz. of club soda. Ideally, just enough to make a batter with the consistency of pancake batter. This bowl or container should also be large enough to use to coat onions and fish.
Place fish in the “dredge” batter first, and then coat with the flour only mixture.
Slowly place battered fish into heated oil allowing batter to start to brown. Assure fish is coated in oil and cooks evenly. Turn when necessary. Cook approx. 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Set aside on paper towels to drain.
Repeat process with onion: dredge, flour, and fry.
Serving suggestion: Make the home- made mayo and add some relish for your own fresh tartar sauce just like we do!
Health note: Frying food is not something one should do on a regular basis but this meal makes a great dinner when food boredom sets in.
